Think of the iconic images of gay artist Tom of Finland and eau de parfum isn't what first comes to mind.
But now celebrated perfumer Antoine Lie has created the Tom of Finland fragrance to celebrate the male form in all its animal beauty and eroticism.
Without disturbing a man’s natural odours, the new scent has top notes of aldehydes lemon and birch leaves, blended with aromas of cypress and pine at its heart.
Described as a clear water fragrance that washes away the sins of the night before, and developed for the modern man at ease with his body and attitude, the Tom of Finland range has been designed to challenge preconceptions of the body and sexuality.
While claiming not to be specifically aimed at the gay market, the packaging does feature homoerotic artwork by the influential gay artist and the interior of each box has one of eight different Tom of Finland images.
What the über-macho and muscle-bound leather men from Tom’s illustrations will make of this aroma remains to be seen, but the Tom of Finland fragrance is now available nationwide
