Shout: Birmingham's first ever dedicated LGBT festival

Shout, Birmingham's first ever dedicated festival by and for the LGBT community, will take place across the city throughout November, and encompasses theatre, the visual and performing arts, literature, sport and politics in almost 50 events at 23 different venues.

Highlights include an audience with Patricia Quinn, the original Magenta in both the Rocky Horror stage show and film, a set from the award-winning stand-up/cabaret duo Topping and Butch, a lecture from Peter Tatchell, drama workshops with Acting Out, an evening with Fiona Shaw discussing her book Tell it to the Bees, Matthew Bourne's acclaimed dance theatre work Dorian Gray, and football with Birmingham Blaze vs. Falcons GFC.

The festival's producer, David Viney, said: "We are pleased to be bringing key high-profile artists and projects to Birmingham, such as a Del LaGrace Volcano retrospective, The Pansy Project and Matthew Bourne's Dorian Gray. We look forward to delivering a fresh, innovative and inclusive festival that will not only showcase LGBT culture but also build visibility and profile of the community in the city in a positive way."

Shout, which is hoped to become an annual fixture, has been organised with the assistance of the Birmingham LGBT Community Trust, the city's cultural organisations and local volunteers, and is financially supported by Arts Council West Midlands and Sport England.
