Anti-gay marriage Miss California in sex video scandal
Carrie Prejean, the Miss California who was dethroned after saying she didn't believe in gay marriage, has been revealed as the star of a sex video.
Prejean, 22, was stripped of her title in June when the producers of the Miss California USA pageant, K2, claimed she had breached her contract by making appearances in her role without their permission.
Prejean denied the allegations and filed a libel suit demanding $1m in damages, alleging discrimination due to her religious views and claiming the producers had released personal information about her, including that she had had breast implants.
But according to tabloid website TMZ.com, during her negotiations with K2's lawyers last week a sex video showing her pleasuring herself was introduced. 'When the video started playing, Carrie's first reaction was "that's disgusting"... and Carrie denied it was her. Then, the camera angle changed...and panned up to her face. She was caught red-handed, so to speak. Carrie was rendered speechless and immediately began talking with her lawyer. We're told it took about 15 seconds for Carrie to drop her $1 million demand.' According to beauty pageant contracts, contestants must not have previously appeared naked in photographs or videos. The resulting settlement by K2, just $100,000, will go to her lawyers and publicist.
It was during the Miss USA competition in April, when Prejean, already Miss California, was asked by blogger Perez Hilton about her views on gay marriage. She replied: "I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman...that's how I was raised." She was booed and emerged as the runner-up but subsequently became a pin-up for the right-wing, appearing in a television advertisement for the National Organization for Marriage, which opposes same-sex marriage.
On Friday, after the existence of the video was made public, Prejean was dropped as a celebrity guest at a fundraiser being held by right-wing group Defenders of the Family.
