US Republicans reject gay rights by huge margin in poll
A new opinion poll has revealed the extent of American Republican voters' antipathy to advances in gay rights.
Research 2000, a nonpartisan research firm that conducts surveys and focus groups for businesses and news media organisations, interviewed 2,003 self-identified Republicans nationwide for the Daily Kos.
The overwhelming majority said they did not accept that gays and lesbians should be allowed to marry, serve in the military, receive federal or state benefits, or teach in public schools.
