Gay news: Parties with Perez Hilton and doesn't think her views will cost her the title

Lauren Ashley, Miss Homophobic?

Miss California contestant says God wants gays dead

A contestant for the title of Miss California 2010 has given her views on same-sex marriage, citing the Bible's "black and white" judgement that gays should be "put to death".

Lauren Ashley, Miss Beverly Hills 2010, went far beyond the views of Carrie Prejean, who claimed that her opposition to gay marriage led to her dethronement as Miss California and lost her the Miss USA competition last year.

Ashley, 23, told Fox News' Pop Tarts: "The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, 'If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.

"The Bible is pretty black and white," she said. "I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and he has the best for everyone. If he says that having sex with someone of your own gender is going to bring death upon you, that's a pretty stern warning, and he knows more than we do about life."

Ashley claimed to party with gay blogger Perez Hilton, whose question about gay marriage at the Miss USA pageant was believed to have cost Prejean the title. She had replied: "I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman...that's how I was raised."

"She is definitely a beautiful person and I love that she stood up for what she believes in," Ashley said. "I think that's gorgeous. Perez Hilton definitely overreacted a little bit. He took it personally, and I'm sure that she loves him just as much as she loves everyone else."

Asked if she was worried that her views would damage her chances, she said: "That isn't really the issue. I have a lot of friends that are gay, and...I have a lot of friends who have different views, and we share our views together. There's no hate between me and anyone."

In the legal battle that followed Prejean's dethronement as Miss California it was revealed that she had had breast implants and starred in home-made solo porn videos, but in contrast Ashley said she planned to remain a virgin until her wedding night.
