Gay TV presenter Kristian Digby found dead

Gay television presenter Kristian Digby was found dead in his London home yesterday, in what police describe as “unexplained” circumstances.

He was 32.

Ambulance crews were unable to revive Kristian when they arrived at his flat in Newnham, east London, at 7.45am.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called to reports of a body of a man in his 30s found at an address in Richford Road, E15.

"Ambulance services attended and life was pronounced extinct. Next of kin were informed and we await formal identification.

"There will be a post-mortem at 12 noon at East Ham mortuary."

Kristian presented popular shows including To Buy Or Not To Buy and Living In The Sun, and was active on London’s gay social scene, regularly lending his support to LGBT charities including the Albert Kennedy Trust and Stonewall.

He was also a successful director – his short film Last Train To Demise won the Melbourne Film festival best student film in 1998 and Words of Deception won him a junior Bafta.

Tributes have been pouring in.

A BBC spokesman said: "Kristian was a much-loved and talented presenter for BBC Daytime. He brought a real sense of energy and warmth to all the shows he presented and will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time."

Digby's agent and friend Jo Wander said: "I am devastated by the loss. He was a lovely guy and a very talented presenter and director. I will miss him hugely."
