BNP London Mayoral candidate unveils policies

Barnbrook
BNPââ¬â¢s Richard Barnbrook believes that Londoners should ââ¬Åonly be gay behind closed doorsââ¬Â
"The official BNP view is that homosexuality is an abnormal lifestyle choice"
BNP Mayoral candidate Richard Barnbrook has been outlining his policies in the run-up to the London elections on 1st May. They include making sure that homosexuality is neither “encouraged nor promoted”, which follows the official BNP view that homosexuality is an “abnormal lifestyle choice”.
The general BNP stance towards the gay community is that they support a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, similar to that used in the US military. This means the BNP objects to any education about homosexuality and is opposed to civil partnerships, which they see as “flaunting and celebrating homosexuality”. Barnbrook himself is quoted as saying in an interview with the Times that “you can be Gay behind closed doors…but don’t bring it on the streets, demanding more rights for it”.
Although Barnbrook concedes he is unlikely to win the election in May he believes that the BNP should be able to win at least one seat (in the last election their candidate came sixth with over 58,400 votes).
Of course Barnbrook defended the BNP against claims that they are a bigotted organisation, maintaining, "We're not racist at all. We do not perceive one person's religion, identity, culture or way of life as being better or worse than our own, we are simply different." But an article on the BNP website cited that homosexuality was “not the norm” but just a “lifestyle choice”, which the BNP believes should not be promoted or discussed.
