GFEST will showcase over 100 artists

London's gay art festival open for submissions

GFEST, London's annual LGBT cross-arts festival, is seeking submissions for the November 2010 event.

Organised by arts charity Wise Thoughts, GFEST will showcase work from over 100 established and emerging artists in three categories: visual art, short film and performance.

Held at various venues across the capital, the festival also includes social and networking events, workshops, debates, and seminars with leading LGBT artists, workshop facilitators, industry/sector experts and academics.

Niranjan Kamatkar, Wise Thoughts' artistic director, said: "Judging from many enquires after GFEST 09, we are expecting a number of very high quality submissions this year.

"I am pleased to say that due to ever expanding interest and wider support from the artistic and gay community, we can organise a better GFEST 2010."

Last year, as one of the four key annual events in the capital's LGBT calendar, the festival received the support of mayor of London Boris Johnson and a launch at the House of Commons hosted by David Lammy, the minister for Higher Education.
