Gay news: Some of the 'Great Ignored' were ignored this time

Cameron - ignored some of the "great ignored"
Cameron forgets to mention gay people in election speech
In a deviation from the published script, David Cameron omitted any mention of gay people in his election campaign speech today.
He was due to say: "We're fighting this election for the Great Ignored - young, old, rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight.
"They start businesses, operate factories, teach our children, clean the streets, grow our food and keep us healthy - keep us safe. They work hard, pay their taxes, obey the law."
But speaking without an autocue at London's South Bank this morning, the Tory leader said he was fighting the election for "the people I call the great ignored. They may be black or white, rich or poor, they may live in the town or country".
Although the rest of his speech contained no reference to gay people, a Conservative party spokesman said Cameron would "definitely" be mentioning them in other election appointments today.
Cameron's omission came less than a fortnight after he stumbled through an interview with Gay Times and just days after shadow home secretary Chris Grayling was secretly filmed saying he agreed that B&B owners should be allowed to refuse accommodation to gay couples.
Kate Hanson, national chair of LGBT Labour, said: "The irony that David Cameron ignored gay people in a speech about the great ignored is lost to no one. LGBT people will not be ignored in this election.
"Cameron and his Tories are hoping LGBT people will ignore their voting record on LGBT equality in this parliament but time and again the real Tory party reveals itself.
"Chris Grayling's comments about B&B owners are yet to be tackled by David Cameron - how long will he go on ignoring gay equality issues?"
