Sir Ian McKellen joins Scissor Sisters.
The classical actor who played Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, will feature on a track on cult band Scissor Sisters’ new album, Night Work.
On “Invisible Light”, Sir Ian joins lead singer Jake Shears and delivers a soliloquy in which he talks of Babylon, “where sailors lust and swagger…. whores, sexual gladiators and fiercely old party children all wake from their slumber”.
This is not Sir Ian’s first venture into pop music. He recently recorded a contribution to Mika’s new stage show.
He will shortly be starring as Number Two in the new TV adaptation of cult 60s show The Prisoner.
Night Work is Scissor Sisters’ third album, and will be released on 28 June.
