Elton banned from Egypt
The gay musician was supposed to be giving a private performance on May 18, but the head of Egypt’s Musician Union has cancelled the concert because of the singer’s “anti-religious sentiments”.
Sir Elton recently described Jesus Christ as a “super intelligent gay man”, and has told US magazine Parade that to be a gay woman in the Middle East is “as good as being dead”.
Mousir al Wasimi, the head of Egypt’s Musician Union, which claims to be the only organisation authorised to allow concerts by foreign performers in the country, was quoted by German Press Agency DPA as saying:
"How do we allow a gay, who wants to ban religions, claimed that the prophet Eissa [Jesus] was gay and calls for Middle Eastern countries to allow gays to have sexual freedom?”
