Skinheads wearing neo-Nazi insignia threw tear gas, eggs and stones at the Pride parade as it marched through the streets of
Riot police asked the organisers to call off the march claiming that they could not guarantee the safety of the 1,000 gay and human rights activists taking part in the event.
The organisers claimed that the police had not been prepared for the situation, despite being warned about possible violent clashes.
"A bunch of morons who use violence, thwarted our event,” said Romana Schlesingerova, one of the event’s organisers.
“We are very sad and disappointed."
