Corrie's lesbian kiss is OK, says regulator

Ten viewers had complained to the TV watchdog about the kiss between characters Sophie Webster and Sian Powers, played by Brooke Vincent and Sacha Parkinson, in the top-rated soap on 23 April.

The episode, which was screened at 8.30pm, showed the two teenage friends finally reveal their true feelings for each other with a long kiss.

It was the first lesbian storyline in the show’s fifty-year history, and the kiss was seen by seven million viewers.

Viewers complained to Ofcom under Section One of the broadcasting code which covers scenes of a sexual nature.

However, Ofcom has cleared the scenes and will not be pursuing the matter further.
