Gay news: Apple has reversed a decision which blacked out animated frames of two gay men embracing on its iPad.

Apple admitted its mistake

Apple changes mind on gay kiss

Apple censored pictures of two men kissing in an app for the iPad which was based on an acclaimed adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of being Earnest by Belgian comic artist Tom Bouden.

The cartoons displayed no full-frontal nudity, but Apple decided that a gay kiss was too much for its iPad users. They covered up the embrace with black blocks.

The company has now reversed the decision and has invited the author to resubmit the app.

This follows a similar censorship of an app version of James Joyce’s Ulysses.

Apple has admitted that the decision to block the panels was a mistake.
