Eminem: "calmed down a bit"

Rapper Eminem Supports Gay Marriage

The rapper, born Marshall Mathers III, told the New York Times, in an article to be published at the weekend, that he had “calmed down a bit”.

"My overall look on things is a lot more mature than it used to be,” he said.

When asked whether he was in favour of gay marriage in his home state of Michigan, the rapper replied:

“I think if two people love each other, then what the hell? I think that everyone should have the chance to be equally miserable, if they want.”

The rapper has previously come under fire for his apparently homophobic lyrics, although he has denied being homophobic and has even appeared on stage with Elton John.

In “Criminal” he raps: “My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge/ That'll stab you in the head whether you're a fag or lez/ Or the homosex, hermaph or a trans-a-vest/ Pants or dress - hate fags? The answer's ‘yes’.”

Last year he agreed to change his homophobic lyrics when performing at this summer’s Wireless Festival in London.
