Lib Dems to vote on gay marriage
Although the party supports gay marriage this will be the first time that party members will have voted on the issue.
The motion will propose that all existing civil partnerships be converted into full marriage, and would give gay civil partners the same rights currently held by their heterosexual married counterparts.
It will also press for transgendered people to remain married after a sex change.
While the issue remains controversial among some Liberal Democrats - and more so amongst their Conservative coalition partners - it seems likely that grassroots support will see the motion passed.
