Gay Showbiz News: Kieron Richardson who plays bad boy Ste Hay in the Channel 4 teen soap has come out on live TV

Hollyoaks star is gay

Richardson, who was placed third in this year’s Dancing On Ice, came out live to presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the This Morning programme.
Although most of his friends and family knew he was gay, there had been considerable tabloid speculation about his sexuality ever since he appeared on Dancing On Ice.
He said he chose not to come out then, so as not to divert attention from his performance on the ice-skating show.
Richardson’s revelation comes with the news that his character on Hollyoaks will embark on a gay relationship.
He told Schofield and Willoughby that he had always felt comfortable being gay, and he hoped that by coming out publicly he would also help other gay teenagers who are coming to terms with their sexuality.
"We don't live in the Dark Ages anymore, we live in the twenty-first century,” he said. “It's not wrong. You shouldn't be ashamed of it."
"I'm a nervous person and it's quite a big thing to say,” he told his hosts. “I'd rather do it here with you two."
