Gay men break world record for longest kiss

 20 September 2010

Matt Daley and Bobby Canciello started kissing on Saturday morning, and stopped thirty-three hours later.

The two kissed to raise awareness for their “Our Lips Are Sealed” campaign, which supports gay rights.

Officials from Guinness World Records will now examine a video of the kiss, to determine whether the kiss was indeed record-breaking and that the two men’s lips did not part for thirty-three hours.

If the kiss is approved it will be the first time that a gay couple have held the world record for the longest continuous kiss.

The previous record holders were a German couple who locked lips for thirty-two hours and seven minutes last year.

The two men are not boyfriends, but said that they hoped their kiss would raise awareness of the beauty of a kiss between two men.

“After years of fighting bigotry and discrimination, it’s time to put down our words and demonstrate otherwise,” they said.

“When there’s nothing left to say, say it with a kiss.”
