Gay Yorkshire man arrested over murder and cannibal charges
"Police found diced meat in a pot on the stove that was later identified as belonging to the victim"
A 33-year-old gay man found murdered in Leeds last Thursday had chunks of flesh from his leg missing, according to police, who also found diced meat in a pot on the stove that was later identified as belonging to the victim. Anthony Francis Morley, 35, has been arrested.
The body has been identified as that of Damian Oldfield, an advertising salesman from Leeds. It is believed that he met his attacker while out in Leeds cruising on the Wednesday night.
Police were alerted following remarks made by Morley at a local fast food restaurant. They then searched the Morley’s house in the Harehill’s area of Leeds and found the victim’s body. Mr Morley is currently awaiting trial at Leeds Magistrates Court.
This case follows the highly publicized murder of Bernd Juergen Brandes by Armin Meiwes in Germany 2001. Meiwes killed and ate Brandes body after they met on the internet. Meiwes is currently serving a life sentence for the crime.
In that case the victim took part in the ritual willingly and even ate parts of his own body before his death. When the police arrested Meiwes he admitted to having already eaten 40% of Brandes body.
