“We simply cannot let that go by,” Doctor Morse said. “Families put rainbows in their children’s nurseries. Little Christian preschools will have rainbows. Noah’s Ark and all the animals… These are great Christian symbols, great Jewish symbols.”

Anti-gays want the rainbow back

Doctor Jennifer Morse is the founder of the San Diego based Ruth Institute, which actively opposes same-sex marriage and whose motto is “Make marriage cool – one man one women forever”.
In an interview with the American Family News Network’s OneNewsNow, she said that the rainbow flag and its associated imagery had been wrongly adopted by “the gay lobby”.
“We simply cannot let that go by,” Doctor Morse said. “Families put rainbows in their children’s nurseries. Little Christian preschools will have rainbows. Noah’s Ark and all the animals… These are great Christian symbols, great Jewish symbols.”
She went on to argue that the rainbow is a “symbol of God’s covenant with man” and that the use of the rainbow flag by gay activists was wrong.
At hearings for Proposition 8, which defined marriage as existing only between a man and a woman, Doctor Morse said she wore a rainbow-coloured scarf.
She argued that proponents of Proposition 8, were the rightful owners of the symbol.
“Proposition 8 was passed by a great grassroots coalition that included people from all across the religious traditions, and also people of every race and colour,” she said. “We are the real rainbow coalition. The gay lobby does not own the rainbow.”
The rainbow flag as a symbol of gay pride was designed by artist Gilbert Blake and was first flown in San Francisco in 1978.
