Gay News: A leading German politician has said that gays and lesbians are not fit parents

German MP: Gays are "unfit parents"

Volker Kauder, chairman of the ruling right-wing Christian Democrat party, made the remarks in the Berliner Zeitung on Monday.
“The welfare of the child must be the first consideration,” he told the newspaper.
“It’s not so much an issue of whether the adults want to live as a happy family. I don’t believe that children want to grow up in a homosexual partnership.”
His comments were met with fierce criticism from Germany’s Lesbian and Gay Association who called his remarks “shabby” and the complete opposite of a responsible family policy.
“Volker Kauder is reinforcing prejudices against same-sex parents who care every day for their children,” spokesperson Ute Kehr said.
She went on to say that his comments were humiliating gay parents in the eyes of their children.
“How is the fifteen-year-old son of a lesbian couple going to feel when he reads these words in the newspapers?” she asked.
