Gay News: A heterosexual man has been banned from giving blood because he looks "too gay"
By: Nigel Robinson

Gay men cannot give blood in USA

Banned blood donor looked "too gay"

18 July 2011

Twenty-two-year-old Aaron Pace was turned away from a Bio-Blood Components donation centre in Gary, Indiana,  after staff there would not believe that he was heterosexual.

Under US law, no man who has had sex with another man since 1977 may donate blood, even though all blood is now routinely checked for HIV.

Pace admitted that he is effeminate but is not gay.

Speaking to the Chicago Sun Times, Pace said: "I was humiliated and embarrassed. It's not right that homeless people can give blood but homosexuals can't. And I'm not even homosexual."
