The 32-year-old singer, who came out after winning Pop Idol in 2002, told Attitude magazine: “I was terrified of being gay, so I didn’t really feel sexual until I was about 26. I wasn’t really having sex, so I was quite inhibited.”
He went on to say that he is now happy with who he is.
“I feel like I’ve reached a place that I’m happy with, worked out things I will never do. It’s taken me years to work that out.”
Will Young’s new album Echoes is released on 22 August prior to a nationwide tour in October.
