Outrage over sentence for the killing of a gay man

Moller
Three years in jail for the man who taunted then punched a gay boy to death
"It was a murder police believed to be motivated by the victim's sexual orientation"
There has been outrage in the US following the sentencing of Stephen Moller who taunted a 20-year-old gay man as he left a bar which was holding a gay teen night in South Carolina before punching him to death on the street. Moller then stepped into his car and drove away while Sean William Kennedy was taken to hospital where he died 17 hours later.
Moller, 18, was originally arrested and charged with the murder of Kennedy, a murder police believed to be motivated by Kennedy's sexual orientation, although in November last year a Grand Jury handed down a ruling that Moller should be charged with Involuntary Manslaughter instead of murder.
Moller appeared in court yesterday to plead guilty to the lesser charges and was handed down a five-year sentence, reduced to three years as he has already spent seven months in custody. He will serve at least 85% of the remaining three years and will be put on anger management courses.
