Chief executive of Stonewall Ben Summerskill has said "It its a good opp to talk about some of the things the government can be doing to promote equality and one of those issues is homophobic bullying.

"We were delighted he voted for lesbian access to IVF recently and since he has been Prime Minister the government has introduced an offence of incitement to homophobic hatred"

Those visiting Number 10 will be wearing their 'Some People Are Gay Get Over It' t-shirts, which are available from the Stonewall website.

The 'Some People Are Gay Get Over It' campaign was launched following research conducted by Stonewall that discovered almost two thirds of lesbian, gay and bi-sexual students had been the victim of homophobic harassment. Of that 92% experienced verbal abuse, 41% physical bullying and 17% were subject to death threats.
