Conservative MP Alan Duncan has recently proposed to boyfriend James Dunseath of 14 months.
"We hit it off instantly and our friends say we are inseparable"
MP Alan Duncan has proposed to boyfriend, 39-year-old Dunseath, at a dinner arranged by friends on Valentine’s Day while on holiday in Oman.
Mr Duncan, 50, has been MP for Rutland and Melton since 1992 and will be the first Tory MP as well as the first member of the Cabinet to enter into a Civil Partnership. He is also the Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
After voluntarily coming out in 2002, Duncan has declared his support for gay rights despite the viewpoints of others in his party.
The civil partnership ceremony is expected to take place later this year. In the Court & Social page of the Daily Telegraph the happy couple announced their intention to enter into Civil Partnership.
"We hit it off instantly and our friends say we are inseparable," said Mr Dunseath quoted in the paper. "He may be a politician but he's great fun. We both feel it's so right and we're very lucky."
