Vice Presidential candidate against gay marriage

Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin, the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, is an opponent of gay marriage.
Palin, the Governor of Alaska and Senator John McCain's surprise running mate, supported her state’s ban on same-sex marriage in 1998 and also spoke out against a Supreme Court ruling awarding health benefits to partners of gay state employees.
She did, however, allow the ruling to go ahead, after being advised that to veto the bill would be unconstitutional.
Palin, who if elected will become the first female Vice President of the United States, is known as socially conservative. She is an opponent of abortion rights, is in favour of capital punishment, and has advocated the teaching of creationism in schools.
Her Presidential running mate, John McCain, is also on record as saying that gay marriage should not be legal and is against same-sex couples adopting children.
