Palin supports 'ex-gay' movement
By: Victoria Murden

Sarah Palin

Republican party nominee's views on 'ex-gays' are called into question.

"Although Palin has not directly commented, her six-year affiliation to the Wasilla Bible Church is being seen as confirmation of her support for the 'ex-gay' movement"

Sarah Palin's controversial opinions on gay rights are once again in the spotlight as a result of her connection with the Wasilla Bible Church.

The church recently advertised a conference to be held in Anchorage, Alaska, which will assist attendees in ‘ministering’ to gays and lesbians. The 'Love Won Out' conference is being controlled by the notorious Focus on Family Christian group, who aim to convert gay people "by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality."

The Focus on Family group use conversion therapy and prayer to help people out of 'that sordid world'- a term they use to describe gay society. However, health professionals assert that no evidence has been found to verify their claims of success.

Although Palin has not directly commented, her six-year affiliation to the Wasilla Bible Church is being seen as confirmation of her support for the 'ex-gay' movement. She is now under pressure to clarify her views on the subject, particularly in the light of her widely publicised opposition to gay marriage.

Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays in Anchorage have slammed the conference and are calling for Palin to "make clear that she, as a mother and a public servant, will not condone, either explicitly or implicitly, such attempts at dividing our families and hurting our kids."

Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese said:

"Sarah Palin is against recognising our relationships, against domestic partner benefits, and against hate crimes laws. ...The more we find out about her record, the more frightening her record becomes.”
