Nearly one in four oppose gay sex

one in four oppose gay sex
Almost one quarter of respondents in a sex survey said gay sex should be made illegal
The sex poll conducted by the Observer newspaper revealed that 24% of the people polled thought that gay sex should be criminalised. Sex between consenting gay men was made legal in 1967.
While only six per cent of people in the survey identified themselves as homosexual or bisexual, 13% admitted to having had same-sex experiences at some time in their lives.
A majority of 60% believed that the age of consent should be the same for gay and heterosexual sex.
Same-sex marriages were opposed by 45% of those surveyed and a majority of 56% stated that same-sex couples should not be allowed to adopt children.
While older people tended to oppose same-sex marriage, 37% of those in the 16 – 24 age group also opposed it.
