Jade Goody in homophobic claim

Jade Goody
Jade Goody faces more controversy - this time over 'homophobic' comments
"I donââ¬â¢t want to be wearing Timberlands, baggy jeans, and a big shirt with short hair or a bald head."
Jade Goody has caused controversy and claims of homophobia after comments she made concerning lesbians having short hair.
Goody, who is currently receiving treatment for cervical cancer, made the statement on a documentary Living With… Jade Goody, which has followed Big Brother star’s movements since she was diagnosed with the disease in August of this year.
In the programme she said of losing her hair after chemotherapy:
“If you’ve got really short hair, if you’re not an absolutely stunning bird, it’s really hard to pull it off, which is why I struggle.
“And you can take the risk of looking like a lesbian. Mum even told me that and she’s a lesbian.
“I don’t want to be wearing Timberlands, baggy jeans, and a big shirt with short hair or a bald head.”
Comedian Amy Lame, who is a lesbian, has criticised the star, saying:
“Does she really think that’s what all lesbians look like? It’s a completely old-fashioned, clichéd view. Does she really think she can get away with being homophobic like that?
Speaking to The Daily Mirror, Lame continued:
“She’s just managed to offend and insult not just lesbians but any woman with short hair including those who’ve lost their hair from disease, including cancer.
“You’d think she’d have more important things to think about than making a reality TV show and worrying about her hair.”
Jade Goody rose to fame after coming fourth in the third series of Big Brother. In 2007 she made a return to the reality show on Celebrity Big Brother, but became embroiled in a serious row over racism claims which prompted 55,000 complaints and forced Goody’s ejection from the house.
The television star, who has also launched her own perfume range, was diagnosed with cervical cancer two days after entering Big Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother. She had previously been tested for both cervical and bowel cancer but given the all-clear.
Having undergone a hysterectomy, Goody is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment.
