The Pink List names the 101 most influential gay men and women in the
Mandelson, who only featured at Number 64 last year, is largely credited for saving Gordon Brown’s position as Prime Minster by persuading Labour MPs and fellow Cabinet members not to resign.
Featuring in the list’s top ten are Stephen Fry at Number Two, Sir Ian McKellen at Number Three, and the highest-ranked lesbian, film and theatre director, Phyllida Lloyd, at Number Seven.
Other names in the list include journalist Evan Davis (12), Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman (28), TV Producer Waheed Ali (53), author Jeanette Winterson (73), and singer and Pride Life cover boy Patrick Wolf (92)
