Manchester's gay village to be honoured by Tory conference

Tories find their Pride
Tories to host first ever conference Pride event
This year's Conservative conference in Manchester will include a Pride event for the first time in the party's history. Conference Pride (October 6), at Spirit Bar, Canal Street, in the centre of the city's gay village, will be a high-profile event expected, according to the party's website, to draw over 700 guests. It will be co-hosted by Conservative party vice-chairman and candidate for Stourbridge, Margot James and gay Tory blogger Iain Dale, and the surprise special guests will include a senior shadow cabinet minister (Alan Duncan, William Hague?).
Tory Bear, the 'right-wing political gossip' website has an exclusive message from party chairman Eric Pickles: "On Tuesday Canal Street will be the venue for the first ever Conference Pride event where we will welcome a fantastic key speaker (all hush-hush for now) followed by a night of great dancing."
