'Cure' for homosexuality on remote Scottish island
A controversial Indian TV lifestyle guru plans to turn a remote Scottish island into a yoga and traditional teaching centre, where a cure for a wide range of ailments from arthritis to slipped discs – and homosexuality – will be available.
Swami "Baba" Ramdev responded to the Delhi High Court's decriminalisation of homosexuality in July of this year by claiming that it was a "disease" that could be cured by his methods.
"It can be treated like any other congenital defect. Such tendencies can be treated by yoga, pranayama and other meditation techniques," he said.
Ramdev, who appears on Indian television every morning to an audience of more that 20 million, has been provided with the tiny island of Little Cumbrae by two of his Scottish followers, Sam and Sunita Podda.

The couple, who made their fortune in care homes after leaving India thirty-two years ago, paid £2m for Little Cumbrae, which they plan to rename Peace Island.
The guru will attend a ceremony on the island to bless the new project, which will be the "international base" for his teaching of pranayama yoga, the ancient Indian art of breath control, which he claims can cure "asthma, arthritis, sickle-cell anaemia, kidney problems, thyroid disease, hepatitis, slipped discs - and it will unblock any fallopian tubes."
Ramdev has 500 hospitals in India serving more that 30,000 a day, and dispensing his own herbal remedies.

In 2006, the Indian Communist party accused him of using human bones and animal parts in ayurvedic drugs produced by his pharmacy, but backed down after his followers rioted and attacked their headquarters.
