Lord Snowdon had gay affairs, says Nicky Haslam
High-society interior designer Nicky Haslam has claimed that Lord Snowdon, ex-husband of the late Princess Margaret, had two gay affairs, one of them his own "very brief romance".
In his controversial and eagerly-awaited memoir, Redeeming Features, Haslam says that he and Snowdon - then Antony Armstrong Jones - had their affair a year before the latter's wedding to the Queen's sister in 1960.
Haslam, 69, whose former clients include Rupert Everett and Princess Diana, also claims that prior to that, in the 1950s, Armstrong-Jones was in a relationship with Tom Parr, who went on to become head of luxury-goods brand Colefax and Fowler.
"I had a very brief romance with Tony Armstrong-Jones, somewhat one-sided on my part as Tony, who was dazzlingly attractive, had other irons in the fire, especially the flower-like Chinese actress Tsai Chin, soon to star in The World of Suzie Wong," writes Haslam.
The acclaimed photographer has always denied rumours that he is bisexual.
