Sex and the City stars turn out in force to gay awards

"When you're a young gay person you yearn for nothing so much as the presence of other gay people - Nixon"

The movie of Sex and the City may be a month away, but the four main actresses (and the film's director!) showed a united front at a ceremony honoring gay role models, SATC actress Cynthia Nixon among them. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis were all there to applaud the award-winning actress as she collected her award from The Point Foundation, an organisation that gives scholarships to gay students.

"When you're a young gay person you yearn for nothing so much as the presence of other gay people," said Nixon in her acceptance speech, "most especially an older generation of gay people who can encourage and inspire you... It was just a real honour to be considered a role model."

"The way she lives her life is good work," chipped in SJP of Nixon, who has been living openly with her girlfriend Christine Marinoni since 2003. Before Marinoni, Nixon had two children with a boyfriend, something she says she now looks back on as her "straight period".
