Actor, Luke Macfarlene, from the ABC series Brothers & Sisters comes out in an interview with a Canadian newspaper.

The Canadian born actor, Luke Macfarlene, a regular on the new ABC series Brothers & Sisters starring Calista Flockhart has recently come out in an interview with a Canadian newspaper.

His character, Scotty Wandell, is gay and is said to be exchanging vows with his boyfriend, Kevin Walker, for the season finale which is scheduled to air next month. And due to months of speculation Macfarlene said he felt he needed to be truthful about his sexuality despite the impact it could have to his career.

"I don't know what will happen professionally ... that is the fear, but I guess I can't really be concerned about what will happen, because it's my truth," he told the Globe and Mail.

He goes on to add that he too would like to be married in the future.

"From a standing outside perspective, and also as someone who is gay, I think that it's a very exciting time. How exciting that we're saying, 'This can be part of the cultural fabric, now,' because it is two series regulars, two people that you invite into your home and you see every week. It's telling of the beginning of more waves and I'm very proud of that."

The London, Ontario native attended Juilliard in New York in pursuit of his dream as an actor. Since then he has been casted in the miniseries Tanner on Tanner and the movie Kinsey starring Liam Neeson.
