Who is Datz?
Datz is an eclectic bunch of music obsessives with clever marketing backgrounds that all got together when they noticed a void in the music industry.
How did Datz start and why?
We met through mutual friends in the pub and decided that with our love of music and a few bright ideas that Datz could really work. Next thing we knew we’d registered the company and were flying by the seat of our pants. So far it’s been incredible we’ve had loads of support and great feedback.
Why is Datz better than iTunes ?
Datz offers all the music that iTunes does and much, much more. Datz really cares about new music, not just buying it, but discovering it, going to hear it live, talking about it, sharing music experiences. Check out our artist microsites, the gig calendar, the blogs, and the forums. Think iTunes AND Myspace’s genius love child.
Why is Datz better than MySpace?
New and up and coming artists are all looking for their big break and since the Artic Monkeys found fame on the web they are all trying it, the good, the bad and the very, very bad. Datz cares about good new music and unlike MySpace we listen to everything we receive and filter it so you don’t have to wade through the dense wilderness of cyberspace to find something half promising. We’re clean cut and believe less is more, through scrupulously sorting through the best we then make it our job to promote the lucky hopefuls like only we know how, allowing our fans to download the latest hotly-tipped unsigned acts alongside the most established names in music.
What fabulous bands –new or old, should we be searching for on Datz.com?
Holly is our guru for new music and she is constantly updating the featured artists and recommended singles and albums on the site, check it out for what’s hot. If guilty pleasures are your thing search our extensive back catalogue where you can find all your old favourites and we won’t say a thing to anyone.
Can people like us share recommendations on Datz, how do we do it?
Of course you can. Use your own blog to voice your opinions, sound off and shout you’re your digital soap box. We love our bloggers and listen very carefully to your opinions; if you love it then we’ll probably feature it.
Who has the worst taste in music in the office?
We believe there is no such thing as bad taste but… we’re slightly scared by Michael’s obsession with Mika, nothing against Mika but maybe we should get a restraining order against Michael in place just in case. Holly’s taste in cutting edge music can take some getting used to as well. Tim says Anna has fantastic taste in music but then he shares similar taste so he may be a bit biased.
