George Michael performs his last live concert

"George Michael has sold in excess of 100m records worldwide and twelve British number ones"

Last night saw George Michael enjoy a triumphant final night of his farewell tour, which he started a staggering two years ago.

Kicking off the evening with 1996 hit Fastlove, the ex-Wham! singer treated fans to the cream of the crop of his illustrious career.

Performing to a sold-out Earls Court audience of 32,000 fans, Michael, said he wanted to celebrate his career and go out with a bang.

But Michael, who has enjoyed a career spanning 25 years, has said that he is bowing out from live performances and concentrate on leading ‘quieter life.’ He is not however retiring completely as he revealed to fans on Sunday that he will be releasing a festive song on Christmas day.

He is also penning an autobiography, which he is keen to point out will be written ‘entirely’ by himself, due for release next year. The book will focus on his days in pop band Wham!, the death of his boyfriend Anselmo Feleppa in 1993 from an AIDS-related illness, the complications of coming out and his well-documented drug problems.

Throughout his career, George Michael has sold in excess of 100m records worldwide and celebrated twelve British number ones.
