The youngest person in the world to receive a sex change has been signed to a new record deal.
Kim Petras, formerly Tim Petras, is set for chart success at the tender age of 16. She became popular with fans on the social networking website MySpace, and will now publicly release her debut album.
Three years ago doctors confirmed that her claims that she was 'in the wrong body' were strong enough to warrant treatment. This included a series of hormone injections to halt male puberty, and encourage female development.
On the subject of music and her recent gender change Petras said:
"My music is most important to me at the moment. It’s the way I can best express myself. I know that because of my past people will always bring up the subject, I can’t get away from it."
The hope for the future is that she will eventually be known for her musical ability rather than for her past. For now though, she will be content to achieve chart success.
