Trick Trick

Gay rappers respond to homophobe Trick Trick’s lyrics and anti-gay outburst

"Trick Trick is only the minority and not the majority anymore. Gays are your doctors, your lawyers, your CEO's, your teachers, your neighbours, your relatives."

Rappers have come out in force against US rapper Trick Trick who, as we reported yesterday, is releasing an album containing extreme homophobic lyrics.

The album, which is called The Villain, condones violence against gay people, and brands lesbian comics Ellen Degeneres and Rosie O’Donell “dyke bithces”. Trick Trick himself proclaimed “Homosexuals are probably not gonna like this album” and said he didn’t want "faggot money" anyway.

Gay and straight people in the music industry have condemned Trick Trick’s homophobic lyrics and have stressed that while Hip Hop has in the past had a reputation for homophobia, his is an outdated view held by only the smallest minority.

Lesbian MC Melange Lavonne, who will host the forthcoming LGBT Hip Hop Reality Show expressed her distaste at Trick Trick’s comments:

"Trick Trick is only the minority and not the majority anymore. Gays are your doctors, your lawyers, your CEO's, your teachers, your neighbours, your relatives.

"Trick Trick can spew all the hate he wants, but gays are not longer perceived as punks, sissies or wimps. We are fighting for equality and if that means that our life is on the line then so be it.”

Rapper actor Deadlee also expressed his disbelief at The Villain’s lyrical content:

"My first thought is to get crazy and warn him that this faggot will kick his ass - but I am so on cloud 9 with Obama winning, and the way he did it”

Deadlee also told of his disappointment in California's recent passing of Proposition 8, which bans gay marriage:

"I also know with the passage of Prop 8 in California, there is still a lot of hate against gays, and a Trick Trick just perpetuates the hate.

"He is threatening to kill gay people in his lyrics and that's where he goes too far."

Trick Trick is best known for his collaborations with Eminem, who produced The Villain
