More Bolly, darling?

Absolutely Fabulous is to be remade in the USA
Patsy and Edina are back, sweeties ââ¬â in a US remake of Absolutely Fabulous.
Absolutely Fabulous ran for five seasons and ten specials from 1992 to 2004 and followed the hard-drinking exploits of Edina and her best friend Patsy, played by Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley. It quickly became a cult and seemingly a fixture of every gay man’s video shelf.
The new version, the pilot for which has just started filming, will be set in LA. Playing Eddie will be Kathryn Hahn, who has recently appeared in Revolutionary Road. Kristen Johnston from 3rd Rock from the Sun will be taking on the role of Patsy.
Johnston told Entertainment Weekly: It's one of those scripts that's like my favourite kind because on paper you're like, Oh, this is funny, but when you read it out loud with two actresses, it's, like, the funniest s**t ever.”
However, reaction to the new show has been lukewarm so far. with the New York Times calling it “neither ab nor fab”, and it remains to be seen whether the US version can capture the wit of the original series.
The pilot is being produced by Fox, more than a decade after Roseanne Barr failed to get her US version of the show starring Carrie Fisher off the ground with ABC.
Jennifer Saunders who played Edina in the original series and who wrote the scripts will be Executive Producer.
