Apprentice in gay row

Howard Ebison and Mona Lewis
An Apprentice contestant "made a homophobic comment during filming"
The incident happened, according to the Sunday Mirror, when Sir Alan Sugar set the candidates the task of coming up with a new image for the run down seaside town of Margate.
Openly gay contestant Howard Ebison suggested rebranding the town as a gay resort.
The idea was turned down by fellow contestant Mona Lewis. The former Tanzanian beauty queen then went on to say that she would not want her six-year-old son to meet a gay man.
An insider source told the Mirror; “Howard did very well to keep his cool as he was extremely offended. He had to put up with a certain amount of homophobic abuse when he was growing up and this really upset him.
“The group was stunned that someone as intelligent as Mona could have such old-fashioned views. Even though she was born in a country with more traditional values, her comments were indefensible.”
The Apprentice team are said still to be considering how much of the incident they will finally broadcast for fear that it could offend some viewers.
