Hugh Jackman wonââ¬â¢t deny that he is gay.
The Australian actor and star of the X-Men and Wolverine movies has been followed by rumours about his sexuality for years.
The rumours increased after his Tony-winning performance as flamboyant entertainer Peter Allen in the Broadway smash musical, The Boy from Oz.
In an interview with Parade magazine, Jackman, who is straight and has been married for thirteen years, refused to deny that he was gay.
“I’d be happy to go and deny it,” he said. “But by denying it, I’m saying there is something shameful about it, and there isn’t anything shameful.
"The questions about sexuality I find more here in America than anywhere else, because it’s a big hang-up and defines what people think about themselves and others. It’s not a big issue in Australia.”
Last year People magazine voted Jackman the “sexiest man alive”.
