Jim Davidson to tackle homophobia claims

Jim Davidson
Jim Davidson is to let TV viewers decide whether he is homophobic
In a new one-off programme So You Think I’m An A***hole, the controversial comic will meet up with a variety of famous black, female or gay “mentors” who will discuss his un-PC humour.
Women, gays and black people have often been the butt of Davidson’s jokes, and in 2007 he was axed from Hell’s Kitchen after calling one of his fellow competitors a “shirt lifter”.
The programme will attempt to confront the public’s negative perception of him, and establish whether Davidson really does hold the prejudices he promotes on stage.
The show will end with a performance in front of a specially invited audience to determine whether Davidson’s humour is suitable for a modern-day audience.
Daniela Neumann, director of digital channel Virgin1 which is producing the programme, told the Guardian: "To many, Jim's views are deeply offensive, but he doesn't understand why. But now, I do have to take my hat off to him as he is prepared to go out of his comfort zone to immerse himself with the very people he has been accused of prejudice against, and question whether he needs to change his views. It should be an explosive show."
