"Battleaxe" Christine Hamilton to host Mr Gay Torbay
Christine, wife of former MP Neil Hamilton, said "I don't know why, but gay men seem to like old battleaxes like me — we'll have a ball although I am sure it will be very serious for the chaps involved."
She denied being a gay icon but admitted: “Gay men seem to like feisty women like me.”
Joining her on the celebrity judging panel will be former Blue Peter presenter Stuart Miles, Gaydar Radio DJ Simon Le Vans and entrepreneur Ivan Massow.
Event organiser Rob Elford said: "I'm very excited that Christine Hamilton will be hosting the event.
"Since I started organising the event in the spring I have been encouraged by the enthusiasm not only by contestants but by the number of people wishing to be on the judging panel.
"The atmosphere will be fantastic, making one big party and raising money for charity at the same time."
