Gartencity Zürich

to 19 September.  Zürich transforms itself into a huge garden of Eden with 'Gartencity' (garden city). From the city centre to the districts, a total of three hundred different plants will be on display. Whether oleander, Ticino palm trees, fig trees or Japanese arrow bamboo – the trees, shrubs and flowers are not planted in the ground, but rather in 1.5 metre polyester containers weighing 30 kilogrammes, specially designed by artists.

The Zürich Festival

Mid June-Mid July, yearly.   A festival with a unique combination of opera, concert, play, dance, and independent theatre.

Street Parade

Saturday, 8 August (yearly).  Dance through Zürich in the Street Parade 2009. The most colourful house and techno party in the world attracts hundreds of thousands of dance enthusiasts to the Zürich lake basin every year. After the parade, around a hundred clubs invite revellers to keep partying until the wee hours.

Weltklasse Zürich Athletics

Friday, 28 August (yearly).   International athletics meet 'Weltklasse Zürich' is the biggest and most well-known athletics event in Switzerland. The elite athletes descend on the Letzigrund Stadium every year and the sports world focuses its eyes and cameras on Zürich.
