Celebrity Cruises are very gay-friendly

Celebrity Cruises outline plans for new service

On board the brand new Celebrity Equinox Robin Shaw, MD UK and Ireland, announced that due to an impressive growth in the UK cruise holiday market the third ship in their state of the art fleet, Celebrity Eclipse, will be based in Southampton from 2010.

Eclipse is programmed to complete twenty-six cruises from its new home port in its inaugural year. The schedule will include several new European destinations and cruise holidays to Scandinavia and Russia.

Standing fifteen decks high the Celebrity ships, currently Solstice, Equinox and Eclipse set new standards within the cruise industry.

The first three of the planned five in the celebrity brand feature impressive design innovations and stunning interior decor.

From a penthouse suite complete with baby grand piano and an ocean view jacuzzi to smart well-equipped staterooms, most of which have outside verandas, this Miami-based group has placed priority on passenger luxury.

Based on a common design theme, the fleet boasts a variety of food styles in each of ten top-class restaurants with bars and cocktail lounges to cater for every taste including the spectacular sky observation bar.

Other features include a well-stocked library, a theatre, an extensive spa and a large gymnasium.  A massive glass and chrome atrium encircles a shopping mall complete with an impressive art gallery.

They even have a half-acre real grass lawn on the top deck. Croquet anyone?

Celebrity lead the way in gay-friendly cruise ships, even hosting a nightly Friends of Dorothy meeting for their lesbian and gay passengers.

The staff training is unsurpassed in the cruise industry and helps place Celebrity in their world pole position for customer service.
