Gay tourist office will open 22 October

London's first LGBT tourist information office opens on October 22

London's first LGBT tourist information office will open for business on October 22, aiming to provide visitors and residents with a wide range of services and show them what the capital has to offer.

Situated close to Leicester Square tube station above Ku Bar in Lisle Street, Soho, LGBT Tourist Information will be open from 12 - 6pm Monday to Saturday.

It will have full and part-time staff trained in LGBT issues and with first-hand experience of the city, enabling them to provide the latest news and recommendations. They will advise on hotel and travel, nightlife, community events, charities, volunteering opportunities, sexual health, arts and cultural events and offer the relevant maps and guides.

Customers will be able to buy tickets for events and activities, take advantage of the office's link with local businesses offering discounts and promotions, get online at the laptop hub, or even have a drink at the bar.

The office is the creation of Ku Bar owner Gary Henshaw and project manager Shaun Newport, who said: "Fantastic activities happen all year round, including Pride London, the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, sports, arts, charity fundraisers, health courses, shopping, leisure events and clubbing, so we feel it is important for all the information to be found in one place.

"In this way we provide a hub to support the LGBT community and focus the world's eyes on our freedoms and the rich, diverse, deep and wide-ranging people, services and lifestyles to be found in the city."
