London & Quadrant Housing Trust (L&Q) is a housing trust providing affordable housing in London and the south east.
Residents include families, couples, single people, key workers, the elderly and those with special needs. L&Q is continually creating places where people want to live, some 60,000 homes to date.
L&Q was started in 1963, and was itself the product of a merger of two associations. It saw steady growth from 1987 under the direction of a chief executive who retired earlier this year.
L&Q now have the former group finance director David Montague as Group Chief Executive. L&Q have grown through taking on local authorities’ portfolios, stock transfers and building their own homes. They are now one of the largest housing association developers in the UK.
Over the past eight years L&Q has been focusing on its people – it was the first housing association in London to obtain Investors in People (IIP) accreditation. Now there is continuous learning development underway. They are focusing on development of people, meeting customers’ needs, financial health and adding value.
L&Q continues to win awards, such as Personnel Today recognising its employer branding, moving up the Sunday Times Top 100 best companies to work for ranks over five years, featuring in the FT Top 50 great places to work – even the FT Top 50 in Europe.
