Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is about more than just putting out fires.
It is an organisation dedicated to protecting the community it serves and there is more to the service than meets the eye.
As well as the brave men and women who ride on the fire engines there is a whole infrastructure helping them to save lives: from the community safety workers who make sure that homes have smoke alarms and youngsters learn the dangers of fire to the support staff who make sure that the service runs smoothly.
